FILLABLE TAX ORGANIZER FORM

Tax Organizer - Is there a way either within Lacerte or outside to create a FILLABLE tax organizer for clients. I am not talking about the e-organizer but taking a PDF or similar file version that can be typed directly onto the organizer sheets.   We have searched within Lacerte (2010) and tried our Adobe Professional (too time intensive & not automated) to find a way to accomplish creating a FILLABLE form.  Lots of clients would like to do it this way.  Plus their seems to be an internal aversion to using the e-organizer because of prior experience with the bad data in bad data out issue and the interactive aspect with Lacerte.

    You can do this with the full version of Adobe Acrobat. There are several tutorials on the web. The problem I would forsee is that you could create a generic organizer, but I do not believe that there is any way to create the personalized organizer that you get from printing directly for each client from Lacerte. I agree, way too time intensize & not automated.

    I believe e-organizer is included in the price for 2011. It can be printed out to try to identify the bad data that clients might input. They can also put the same bad input on paper or fillable forms. I would suggest you try it again, for those clients that are so inclined. My personal feeling was that if a client could accurately complete the e-organizer, they could probably do their own return on TT. I felt it was not very consumer friendly.

        1. Keep it conversational. When answering questions, write like you speak. Imagine you're explaining something to a trusted friend, using simple, everyday language. Avoid jargon and technical terms when possible. When no other word will do, explain technical terms in plain English.
        2. Be clear and state the answer right up front. Ask yourself what specific information the person really needs and then provide it. Stick to the topic and avoid unnecessary details. Break information down into a numbered or bulleted list and highlight the most important details in bold.
        3. Be concise. Aim for no more than two short sentences in a paragraph, and try to keep paragraphs to two lines. A wall of text can look intimidating and many won't read it, so break it up. It's okay to link to other resources for more details, but avoid giving answers that contain little more than a link.
        4. Be a good listener. When people post very general questions, take a second to try to understand what they're really looking for. Then, provide a response that guides them to the best possible outcome.
        5. Be encouraging and positive. Look for ways to eliminate uncertainty by anticipating people's concerns. Make it apparent that we really like helping them achieve positive outcomes.
