How to print estimated payment description on Statements
I have multiple clients whose filing status is MFS and the spouses do not have the same last name. The IRS always has a problem with the allocation of estimated tax payments and wants to assign them to the (primary) taxpayer, nothing to the spouse. There is a description available for each estimated tax payment and I dutifully note that the payment was allocated and provide the spouse's SSN. This information does not reach IRS and client invariably gets a scary letter saying they owe a lot of money, plus penalties, plus interest. How can I get this information to carry through to IRS. It does not create a Statement.
