Can you transfer 2017 clients after you complete 2018 returns?

I completed a 2018 return. A co-worker just gave me the old file (2017) and I would like to add the tax history. Can you add the history and old file to the current file without manually entering it? Or getting duplicate files?

You can add it manually....if you transfer that 2017 file, it'll overwrite what you've done in 2018.

At least in Lacerte, and I'm pretty sure PS works the same way.

If you did transfer the 2017 into 2018 you would overwrite the 2018 file you already created.
