I am getting a diagnostic on a Virginia Corporation that the State ID number is to short (only 8 digits) it needs to be 15 digits long. How do I take care of this?

@rybnaker -Do you still have your cheat sheet about these account numbers? I looked for it a few days ago but  could not find it.

Yes, but I'm not at the office right now.  Maybe tonight.  Short answer, try 30-123456789F001 where 1-9 is the EIN.  The 30 changes based on entity/return type, so that's what I need to look up.

So on your VA corporate income tax return you'd use 35 for C Corp or 38 for S Corp, followed by the federal EIN, followed by F001.

What if it's an LLC taxed as a partnership?

I think 38- is the prefix for any pass-thru entity.

Thank you for diagnostics info. I had also this trouble.

35+EIN+F001= Virginia Stat Corporation Number
