The IRS efile system will not accept a second (superseding) return using the same SSN.

You want to Efile an amended return?  I believe only Business returns have this capability...there may be a state or 2 out there that offer it, not sure if ProSeries can do it though.

You will not be able to Efile an amended 1040X return.

Not filing an amended return. filing current year corrected return. T/p filed claiming herself when she can be claim by parents. proper filing is corrected return. In order for parents to claim her and claim  EIC she must correct her return and not claim herself.  I see no provision for e-filing corrected return (1040 marked "corrected" in top margin)   or amended(1040X)  thanks

Semantics - amend - correct.  Either way, the IRS doesn't allow it.
