New customer pricing vs renewing customer pricing, why should they get a bigger discount?

I reached out to "renewal" person and asked why a new customer would be paying less than a renewing customer even with the $150 discount for auto renew and he said "it just is".  Any comment?  I have been with ProSeries for over 20 years and this makes no sense to me.  I anxiously await a reply.

The stated logic from Intuit is, they give a break to new users because of the learning curve needed for a new software.  But when this question pops up I always have to ask, do you give discounts to your long term customers?  Personally, I don't so I don't have any issue with not receiving humongous discounts for being with Intuit since 1932.

Not great but it sort of works like your subscription for pay TV, internet, web hosting, and the list goes on... Many of them offer deep discounts for new customers, only to raise their rates the following year.

HORRIBLE business practice.  I have been using the software for 10 years and they offered me a $50 discount.  They should be ashamed of themselves.

Just curious - how much of a discount do you give to your long term clients?

Back in the day our bartender once said to those who complained about a free beer, "When you go to the local convenient store do they give you a free milk after 3 purchases?". NOPE!

IRonMaN is correct for the most part, as a new customer there is time taken to learn a new software, transfer data, and train your office staff, hence a discounted rate.  We do as you mention offer a Auto Renewal discount but I'm also happy to run thru the breakeven numbers with you to make sure you're in the right package based off the return quantities that you do.

Intuit Proconnect, continues to rip off its existing customers:

1) Increased pricing

2) expiration of unused returns after 12/31/19

3) The product gets worse every year. More add-ons and BS that just make it more time consuming to prepare a return.

Program and developers have no clue. PTO has so much potential but they jsut make it worse and worse! What an insult to existing customers!

They have a "Choice 200" package for NEW customers only which would of been perfect for me.  25+ years with them & they won't give me the same deal.

I agree that there should be better discounts for loyal customers from Intuit.
