Needing a list to send to clients on information that is needed for taxes. I have a Sole Pro. contacting me for taxes.

Need a checklist of items needed from clients for preparing taxes.

Sole Prop. with employees is my first client.

I would get their prior year return and input it. Match it up to what was filed, then that will be the basis for sending the client an organizer. https://accountants-community.intuit.com/articles/1606435-client-organizer-for-intuit-proconnect-tax...

In this case, however, I would take a slightly different approach than George.

You should be aware that PTO's Client Checklist is nothing but a list of general questions that it generates based on the types of income and expenses on the prior year return - if you do use it, be prepared to go back and forth with your client for bits and pieces of what you actually need for return preparation (unless Intuit rolls out some major improvement this coming season).  I would, therefore, not waste time replicating the client's prior year return; although many of these entries will be proforma'ed to next year return, it will be of limited value.

My suggestion would be to use the PDF organizers from the hyperlink provided in George's answer.  Those should be sufficient for most basic and moderate returns.  You should also expect new versions of these organizers to be a bit different because of TCJA.

@Davidson Bookkeeping Just in case you are waiting for an updated organizer for 2018, we understand from a recent discussion with Intuit on this forum there will NOT be one for this year, unfortunately.  They are expecting subscribers of PTO to use the client checklist/questionnaire, which look the same as last year's for data collection on Link.
