Problem Description

How do I use the missing Data Utility feature in Lacerte?

Solution Description
The "Missing Data" feature adds a red and white border to the field, to help identify fields that are missing data that is needed from the client to complete the return. There are two methods for collecting missing data:

See Video on Missing data Utility or see specific instructions below:

  1. Collect missing data via the Intuit Link Portal
  2. Send the client an email to request the missing data through the Lacerte program using your own e-mail program (for example, Outlook, Gmail).
    • Note: The e-mail method requires a MAPI-compliant e-mail program. Some versions of AOL and some web-based e-mail programs will not work.

To mark an input field with the missing data border:
  1. Right-click on the field that you want to mark for missing data.
  2. Choose Missing Data in the pop-up menu. The active cell will now have the red and white missing data border.

Note:  Fields with a Ctrl +E screen cannot have the Ctrl +E screen open when marking the field as missing data.

NOTE: You cannot select Missing Data from the grid input fields.

To remove the missing data border from the input field:
  1.  Right-click the field and choose Missing Data again. This will clear the checkmark beside the option and remove the red and white border.
